Meet Amilcar

Reiki Master, Veteran, PADI Divemaster, Financial Strategist Bridging Worlds of Healing & Business Transformation

My journey began in the corporate world, where I thrived on logic and data, working in finance. In 2016, a series of personal challenges led me to Reiki, where I discovered that the same curiosity I brought to business also applied to healing and perception.

Trained over five intensive years under Reiki Master Brian Brunius, I completed my Reiki Master certification in November 2023 and founded ReikiDoes.

Now, I bridge these worlds, guiding students through hands-on energy work grounded in evidence-informed thinking - supporting those who value clarity, practicality, and inner peace.

Life is a tapestry of experiences, each thread contributing to the richness of our being. My journey has woven together seemingly disparate strands - finance, scuba diving, service, and Reiki - into a grounded approach to energy work shaped by discipline, experience, and awareness.

This is what makes me unlike other holistic practitioners.

My Reiki Lineage

Usui Shiki Ryōhō — The Usui System of Natural Healing

Reiki is a living lineage connecting each practitioner to Mikao Usui. Our lineage flows to ReikiDoes through the Kōshin Reiki style, a path devoted to clarity, integrity, and purification of the heart-mind.

We preserve the traditional teachings as transmitted: precise hand positions, energetic scanning (Byōsen), Hatsurei-hō meditation, full mental treatment, and the traditional Reiki finish. The Precepts are practiced daily as live training, not philosophy alone.

We honor all Takata lineages equally and support unity within the Reiki community while remaining faithful to the depth and discipline of the tradition we have received.

Dr. Mikao Usui received the awakening of Reiki on Mount Kurama and opened the path of hands-on spiritual healing.

A Japanese scholar of religious studies, Usui studied across monasteries and universities in Asia and the United States, learning multiple languages and examining ancient texts. During a 21-day fast on Mount Kurama, he received the symbols and insights that formed the foundation of Reiki. He went on to teach and practice Reiki throughout Japan, training students who carried the method forward through direct transmission.

Dr. Chujiro Hayashi brought structure, discipline, and compassionate medical clarity to the practice.

A retired Japanese naval officer and physician trained by Dr. Usui, Hayashi founded Reiki clinics across Tokyo in the mid-1920s, including one near the Imperial Palace. He codified the system of hand positions still used today, adapted Reiki to be more accessible to doctors and patients, and trained many students, expanding Reiki’s reach beyond spiritual circles and into broader medical awareness.

Mrs. Hawayo Takata carried Reiki across the ocean and planted it in the Western world.

A Japanese-American woman from Hawaii, Takata sought medical treatment in Japan and became a patient at Dr. Hayashi’s clinic, where her health improved through Reiki. She remained in Japan to study under Hayashi, later returning to Hawaii in 1936 to practice and teach Reiki. In 1938, following Hayashi’s visit and lectures in Hawaii, she was initiated as a Reiki Master, becoming the primary bridge through which Reiki was introduced to the West.

John Harvey Gray devoted his life to teaching and preserving many of Takata’s original forms and practices.

Initiated as a Reiki Master by Mrs. Takata in 1976 - the first she initiated in California and her third worldwide - Gray taught Reiki extensively across the United States and Canada. He led more than 900 classes, taught over 15,000 students, and offered upwards of 10,000 private sessions, becoming the longest-practicing Reiki Master in the Western Hemisphere. In the 1990s, Gray trained Brian Brunius in New York City, preserving a direct Reiki lineage.

Brian Brunius continues the living tradition of Usui Shiki Ryoho with humility, clarity, and deep practice.

Practicing and teaching Reiki for over 25 years, Brunius began his training with John Harvey Gray in 1995, completing second-degree training in 1997. In 2007, he founded NYC Reiki Center, committing to full Master-level training in New York City. He remains an active member of The Reiki Alliance, supporting the preservation and transmission of Usui Shiki Ryoho through disciplined teaching and practice.

Amilcar Escobar, Founder of ReikiDoes, receives and carries the honor of all who came before and guides students to awaken the light within themselves.

Amilcar began his Reiki training in 2016 under the guidance of Brian Brunius and completed an intensive Master-level training in November 2023. Drawing from a background in finance and evidence-informed thinking, he brings clarity, discipline, and practical understanding to hands-on energy work, continuing the Usui Shiki Ryoho lineage through dedicated practice and thoughtful teaching.
